2019 Interior Design Trends

Updated: Jun 13, 2019

Well, 2019 is certainly whizzing by, It’s June already! With the (hopefully) nicer, sunny weather on the way, the inspiration to do some home improvements, renovations and room re-design often comes with it, so what’s been the hot interior design tends so far in 2019 and what interior design trends could be finding their way into your home…

Here’s just a few to get you started…

Pantone 'living coral' colour swatch

So, Pantone announced ‘Living coral’ as their colour of the year.

An animating and life-affirming coral hue with a golden undertone that energises and enlivens with a softer edge. Vibrant, yet mellow PANTONE 16-1546 Living Coral embraces us with warmth and nourishment to provide comfort and buoyancy in our continually shifting environment” - Pantone colour institute 2019

Grey is staying with us, but pink is taking over as a new neutral. Having got a lot of attention in 2018, pink is due to take centre stage during 2019. We are going to see unique and creative new ways to introduce many hip new shades into any space

2019 will also see the rise of yellow, a Bold yellow can feel inviting and colours like this, that are associated with positivity and optimism will see a rise in popularity.

2018 was tech crazy and this dominated many of the design trends we saw in during 2018. This year we are moving away from this and heading back to nature. 2019 will see natural materials such as granite, stone, wood and copper being used in key elements creating a natural and serene atmosphere. This trend will also see, foliage wallpapers from oversized bloom prints to woodland or palm designs.

Highly polished stainless steel and nickel will be less popular during 2019 and instead we say hello to Brass. Using warm metallics such as brass and copper aspects including Kitchen and bathroom fixtures, lighting and furniture offers a warm alternative to that of the steel accents. It can also add a little something glam, to exposed brick, concrete and rough timber.

Velvet thought it had had it’s day often being viewed as old fashioned, but it’s back! Velvet sofas, beds, armchairs, cushions and throws are now seen to add a funky and luxurious look and feel to a room.

With nature being big during 2019, rich Hunter greens will be around a lot, combining well this year with the brass accent trend and working well with other natural elements, this colour will be a great choice.

Dark & moody Blues, blues are going to be used a lot this year, especially in kitchen’s adding a strong, contemporary colour through the tiles or cabinets. Ideally this dark rich colour would be used in rooms that have plenty of natural light.

Artisan fixtures, it has been noticed that many clients are looking for individual fixtures, items from local artists or small business that can add that personal feeling to their home.

At Archi-designs we are loving the grey, pink, greens and blue colour palettes dominating interior colour trends. We love how versatile they are when creating moods and finish to a room.

Another favourite at Archi- designs is that Velvet has made a come back. Velvet can add that luxury feel to a room, and with so many colours and options on how to use it within a room available, its a great way to make a room look fab!
