Concept Design

Design Development

  • Initial Meeting - I will meet and discuss your project to gain an understanding of your requirements, aims & expectations and review how I ca help bring your vision to fruition 

  • Fee Proposal - agreed schedule of services, fee quote & terms of appointment issued for you to review, accept, sign and return. 

  • Brief - I will discuss your project in more detail; it is important that I have a clear understanding of the use & functionality for the space, your aspirations and the budget for the project.

  • Survey - measured survey and photographic building survey of relevant areas

  • Research - as a basis for inspiration I will carry out research & find precedents, looking at inspiring examples & potential products

  • Space Planning - initial layout enabling flow, maximising space & establishing functionality

  • Mood Board - suggestions for colour, feel and finishes for the relevant space(s)

  • Client Meeting - to discuss concept & direction of design 

Technical Design

  • Finalise Layout Plans - amendments made to layout following client meeting

  • Design Development - development of the design following client meeting

  • Finalise Visuals - sketch room elevations, lighting layout plans, room layout plans, sample boards & mood board

  • Client Meeting - to agree final design

  • Technical Drawings - To scale CAD floor plan indicating room layout, detailed elevation CAD drawings (incl tile layouts), detailed CAD lighting layout with product specification key

  • Furniture, Finishes & Fixtures Specification - Detailed information that may be used to easily source and implement the finalised design

Consultation

  • Initial Meeting - we will meet and discuss your project to gain an understanding of your requirements, aims & expectations and review how I can help bring your vision to fruition 

  • Fee Proposal - agreed schedule of services, fee quote & terms of appointment issued for you to review, accept, sign and return  

Implementation / On - Site Project Management

  • Tendering of Required Contractor Services - we can work with your preferred contractor or find a contractor(s) on your behalf

  • Sourcing of Furniture, Finishes & Fixtures - we source items to be delivered on-site to your project on your behalf (to enable this, payment for sourced items is required in advance)

  • On Site Project Management & Implementation - overseeing any contractors, ensuring work is carried our in accordance with the specification, & dressing of spaces for final hand over

At this point, if previously agreed at the briefing meeting, we would carry out Implementation / on-site project management (as below).

Design Conception

  • Brief - we will discuss your project in more detail; it is important that I have a clear understanding of the use & functionality for the space, your aspirations and the budget for the project.

  • Survey - measured survey and photographic building survey of building / relevant areas​

  • Drawings of Existing - accurate CAD drawings of the existing building are produced and these form the basis of all future design development work

  • Design Conception - initial design iteration is produced for discussion, including space planning - Initial floor plans (layouts) enabling flow, maximising space & establishing functionality​

  • Client Meeting - to discuss initial design option & direction of design 

  • Design Development -  ​following client discussion and feedback, design evolution is carried out for further feedback and comment

  • Client Meeting - to agree final design

  • Planning Application (or a Certificate of Lawfulness) - having agreed the final design with you we are then able to prepare and submit a planning application to the local authority on your behalf; this may include supporting planning and design statements depending on your specific project and the services instructed

  • Full Plans Building Regulation Drawings - subject to you being successful in obtaining planning permission form the local authority I can produce drawings to demonstrate compliance with the building regulations; for this stage you will also need to separately appoint a structural engineer 

  • Liaison with planning authority or building regulation body - I can address any planning queries raised during determination, apply for release of planning conditions, answer building regulation queries or conditions; subject to being instructed & agreed in the fee proposal

The below is an indication of our work process assuming we have been appointed to carry our a Full Interior Design Service, and this may vary depending on the scope of services instructed and required works.

Completion of Services

  • Information Handover - once the services are completed and full payment has been received, we will provide you with a final design pack, this will include: two hard copies of the existing measured survey drawings, submitted architectural planning drawings, submitted full plans architectural building regulation drawings and (if granted./approved) local authority planning approval notice, (if approved) building regulation approval notice.
